Logo Design for Small Business

Logo Design for Small Business

I have been doing graphic and web design for over 23 years, getting my start designing show posters for my own band and other bands in the Salt Lake City music scene. Of course, every band needs a cool logo, which subsequently led me to designing logos for individuals and small businesses. I have designed and deployed over 100 brand identities, brand names, company and corporate logos since I got into this business. And even after 10 year, more than 20 of them are still in use, an indication that their designs may be timeless. However, it seems like it's time for some fresh ideas.

SSL: Not Just for E-commerce, Database or Member-driven Websites Anymore

The web is experiencing another growth-spurt/growth-pain moment. Late last year, Google, in an attempt to make the web a safer place, introduced an algorithm that seeks out the SSL certificates of websites.  This Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is a standardized protocol that allows for a secure and private session between you and the website you are viewing. This Spring Google announced that they will begin favoring sites that use SSL in their search engine.  By default, penalizing sites that don’t.

Musicians as Website Hosts, Programmers, Designers, and Developers

People always ask me how I got started in this business. Well, it all started with music back in the early 90‘s. My little brother, Glen “Alex” Joel's band Mirror Mirror and my band Poink were performing live and recording under the Site 51 label. The Site 51 name is the birth-child of Alex and his wife Rachel Joel (seen in the photo above) and inspired by their enthusiasm for the paranormal, conspiracy theories, and "The X-files."

Website for a Psychologist - A Clean Design for a Piece of Mind

Dr. Peter Maduro, a client since 2004, finally accepted that his Flash site was no longer serving his online marketing needs. In preparation for building him a new site, I asked him to refer me to another psychologist website which had a design, layout and functionality that he felt could best represent him. His reference site turned out to be an excellent choice as a model for us to design his own new website.

A Quick Site for An Author

It's always a privilege when one client recommends another or when a client is inspired by a website that IAMTEEJAY has created. With new client and author, Alan Louis Kishbaugh, both those things happened. Alan is the husband of long-time client Stella Resnick and was looking to announce his new book on an author website much like the one I had already built for author Carole Armour-Greenbuam and her debut book, The Forever Deal.

Customized Client Solutions Using Business Catalyst WebApps

Websites often have the responsibility to present it's content in a manageable and easy-to-find manner. When there is a great deal of content, there are two issues that arise: First the owner of the content may find themselves overwhelmed with having to manage the lot of it, and secondly the user of the site may find it difficult to find what they need to find. Here at IAMTEEJAY, we use Business Catalyst as the foundation for our clients' websites with substantial content management and content creation needs. Allow me to share some additional insight into what the tool is and what it can be used for:

Building a Website for a Los Angeles Building Contractor

John Stone, Owner of STONE Construction Company in Los Angeles, CA came to me to build a new Business Catalyst website to boost his brand name recognition and improve the visibility of his company in search engines.  As an integral part of his new site, catering to John's need to maintain a gallery of work himself, I developed a great tool using the Business Catalyst WebApps framework.  The customized Web App will allow him the control to easily create, maintain, update and catalog his portfolio of before, during and after photography so visitors can see some of the amazing home remodels and commercial developments he's completed for his clients.

Now is the Time to Update Your Copyright on Your Website

It's a brand New Year.  Time to set those New Year's resolutions, organize your closet, and probably head to the gym.  While you are re-setting your life you should add one more item to your To Do List: Update the copyright year on your website. Yes, that little footnote on your website pages. This symbol ©. The one that protects all the content, logos, images, and everything else that you have on your site.
