Another Non-profit in Need of Assistance with their WordPress

I am excited to have the opportunity to provide my services to ramp-up the WordPress site of the Throckmorton Theatre in my very own town of Mill Valley, California. The Throckmorton Theatre is a nonprofit, multi-disciplinary creative arts organization, featuring live music, theatrical performance, comedy, art exhibits, and a dash of political satire from the legendary Mort Sahl

An Important Creative Collaboration

People ask me if I will be going out of business soon since technology allows would-be clients to choose a design, upload content, and manage a website on their own. My reply to them is that I will not. Despite the value of being able to develop and manage one’s own online presence with a certain degree of ease, it still eludes most independent business owners who are short on staff and individuals with busy schedules.

Websites for Creatives

I was a stranger in a strange land. After moving to Los Angeles in 1998, I had to find a way to reach out and find my first customers. Fortunately, being a roadie to a couple of Hollywood bands and having my own band in Culver City, I was exposed to a large number of creatives. These potential clients were just then getting to understand how this “new” technology would help them market themselves more effectively. What better way was there than to offer 10-free website designs to those around me. After having a pivotal lunch with writer, music art critic, and artist representative, Craig Stephens, I was introduced to his clientele, some of whom would become my first clients. This group included Robert Reynolds, Jeremy Kidd, Richard and JoAnn Patterson.

All Heart from Lori Parr!

Wow! I can't believe the number of blessings that I have been receiving lately, but none as surprising, house-warming, and sweet-smelling as what came in the mail today. For two years now, Lori Parr, farming pioneer of the French lavender variety ‘Grosso’ in the Missoula Valley, has been sending her beautifully constructed lavender gifts to my family for the holidays. This time, Amy and I were the fortunate recipients of a heart-shaped lavender arrangement as a token of appreciation for our work together on the development of her new site. Again, my heart-felt thanks goes out to Lori Parr.

Los Angeles Rental Studio Goes Responsive

I have been doing business with Anthony Nex since 2006, starting with the development of his photography site, which led to his wife’s Kristine Nex’s set stylist business, and ending with a site for his rental studio location in Los Angeles, the Helms Daylight Studio located in the historical Helms Bakery building complex. The site has enjoyed a simplistic layout for over 8 years, but has had to be updated several times to accommodate the changes in web technology. Today, I launched a fully responsive Helms Daylight Studio website on the Business Catalyst platform. The platform offers a robust set of tools that enable its customers to not only effectively market their business, but also maintain their site on their own. Additionally, Anthony uses the Email Campaign services, already included with his subscription, to send out Email Campaign blasts for not just his business, but also Kristine’s.

Set Stylist Continues to Market Using Business Catalyst’s Email Campaign Module in 2016

Last year Kristine Nex came to me with a mailing list of over 5,000 subscribers and needed a service to deliver her “shout-out” to her database of subscribers to promote her business in the new year. One problem though, her website service didn’t have an effective email campaign delivery system. With her husband, Anthony Nex having his Helms Daylight Studio site on the Business Catalyst platform that come with one, but not being used, we essential borrowed the service for her marketing needs. After creating an email template that matches Kristine’s brand at her site, we masked her deliveries as though it was coming from her site. Not only is the Helms Daylight Studio website managing the subscriber and email campaign database, it is also receiving all off of the traffic coming through site from Kristine’s marketing efforts. I consider this a double marketing whammy, with traffic for both businesses, and all for one low subscription price. Though Kristine’s subscription count has now surpassed the default 5,000 free-subscription deliveries per month, Business Catalyst does offers a 10,000 count bump at a very affordable $5 per month, as needed. With 2016 in front of us, so is the list of emails set to be delivered automatically on their specified dates, while the system manages the subscriber list hands-free.
