MrMind Returns to the Small Screen for a Little AI History

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

Yes, this project was definitely one for the annals of computer history and I am glad to be a part of it. MrMind, a humble chatbot, conducts The Blurring Test, a timely reversal of the Turing Test. Since 1998, MrMind has challenged visitors to the site to convince him that they are human and so far, no one has. MrMind's creator, Peggy Weil, suggests that a new definition of human is in order: Who or what do we think we are in relation to our creations? As Peggy was giving another presentation of the application she developed in the late 90’s, she had problem. The MrMnd website was in Flash and unpresentable. Under a tight time-constraint, using both my knowledge of the Flash application and new technologies, my job was to redesign the site so that it was presentable on all devices. However, my challenge, upon Peggy’s request, was to mirror the animation within Flash and have it play out in the HTML environment utilizing a combination of Javascript, J-Query and CSS4.The extreme challenge was to make all of the animation responsive so that it played out well on all devices.

Passwords Made Easy+ by Peter Amendola

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

Ok, you need to create a password, the dreaded word set of crazy characters you can't remember a week later. You have too many passwords that you need to keep track of. Correct? So you make a written list of these passwords. This list then becomes something you also need to protect because it represents everything you own, and do. There are several reasons why we cannot just have one, but that is not the focus here.

The Metamorphosis of Pamalita, a Domestic Abuse Survivor

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

After a few about-faces and a change of plans, Pamalita and I finally found her path where she can begin to heal by sharing her knowledge and resources with others involved in domestic abuse. However, she takes it a little further as she sends out her message of education, empowerment and encouragement not just to survivors, but all of us, through her blog on her website. I had the opportunity to develop her brand, consult with her on some obvious business choices and create a beautiful website on the Business Catalyst platform.

A Fully Responsive Website Design for Los Angeles Landscape Architect, Lisa Gimmy

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

The life of the website that Lisa Gimmy, a Los Angeles-based Landscape Architect, started with and the one she has today, reflects the typical progression of changes that most websites that were initially developed between 1999 and 2007 experienced over the years. Back in 2005, I was given the privilege of developing a Flash website for her, based on another designer’s layout. Then in 2011, as Flash was becoming obsolete, I managed to recreate the layout using HTML, CSS, J-Query and multiple pages. Today, I launched yet another version of her site, fully responsive and bundled with all the marketing tools that the Business Catalyst platform has to offer.

Simply Designed and Suited for the Needs of the Organization

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

The Parole Officers Association of Contra Costa County (POACCC) had a simple site, which allowed their members to visit, access a secure area, and view information intended for members of the organization. However, the site was hard to update, access to the secured area was flawed and members seldom visited it. Being referred from long-time client State of California Organization of Probation Officers (SCOPO), I was hired to design and develop a simple and responsive website for the organization.

Andrea Cagan Promotes New Book, “Memoirs of a Ghost”, at Her New Site

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

Thank you Steven Shmerler, of SASNet Design, for introducing Andrea Cagan to me back in 2004 and having me develop her first website in Flash. Her site lasted a good 11 years before she needed to upgrade it to promote her new audio biography “Memoirs of a Ghost: One Sheet Away”. In fact, she liked the design so much she wanted to retain as much of it as possible. Utilizing the Business Catalyst platform, responsive web design and having good content to work with, I created a site that I hope will last another 11 years for Andrea.

More of that Fantastic Sarasota

Keeping Up with IAMTEEJAY

For some reason, Sarasota is a hot-bed of clients for me. Oh yeah, and a big “thank you” shout-out to Linda Larsen, Kate Holgate and Polly Pitchford for stirring up out-of-state interest in my services. Carole Springer came to me with a very old and poorly designed website which needed a facelift to better promote her services as a mitigation specialist for the state of Florida. Pulling the colors from a nice photograph of the Sarasota court house, I was able to come up with a site that nicely reflects the look and feel of that beautiful city leaving Carole very satisfied with her new responsive website.

Keep the Design, Lose the Flash

Once again, another long-time client with a Flash site comes to me to update their site to make it more contemporary and responsive. Gerald Friesleben of Foley Friesleben, a communication consultancy of Sherman Oaks, Ca was a client of MC Brand Studios of Thousand Oaks, Ca when I took one of their website designs and produced a Flash-driven website. Seven years later, Gerald, still loving his design, wanted to blog and make his site responsive so he came to me for the update. So with MC Brand Studio’s permission, using the Business Catalyst platform, I developed a site that incorporates the exact same design, but this time added responsive design, a blog, an email campaign service, and announcement modules.

A Life-long Collaboration Continues…

Jeremy Kidd and I go way back. We met in 1998, as I was hired to help him design a website to promote himself as an artist. He was my second client and our relationship was an unusual one. Our collaborative efforts to build a website shaped my career in its entirety. He wasn’t my ordinary client, he didn’t want me to just design his website, he wanted me to show him how to design his website. Like with his artwork, Jeremy is keen on developing something very custom and unique, incorporating his artwork as part of the layout, not just the content. Within 6 weeks he had a site that was all about design and art, where form forced function. Of course, I could go on but for now I’ll just let you view his new site and enjoy his work.

Staying Local with Regional Construction Company

I welcomed this Petaluma, California construction company as I set to expand my Northern California market. Seth Nobmann, of Advance Building Solutions came to me with a need to develop his two company sites, that were set up on the Wix platform, and develop a logo intended for their new housing development project. The templates that were selected for the sites were adequate but needed a little more attention to detail as to make the site more appealing and professional looking. Along with two sites that they can easily manage themselves, they now have the name to brand the entrance of their soon-to-be-opened housing complex.
